Presence isn't performed. It's revealed.

You. Unperformed.

You. Unperformed.

The moment you stop trying to convince people, they start wanting to follow you.

I'm a communication coach. My work isn't teaching you a better performance. It's helping you get out of your own way, so the confidence, ease and presence that are already in you stop being something you reach for, and just become how you show up, unapologetically, in any room.

"Charles never gave me a script. He helped me trust my own voice."Andrew Collins, Founder & Managing Director

The Hidden Problem

You are not the same person when the room starts judging.

Before the meeting, the presentation or the audition, you know what you want to say. You are clear. Quick. Certain enough. Then attention turns towards you. You hear your own voice. You think about your face, your hands, whether they agree, whether you sound intelligent, whether this is the moment everyone discovers you are not as capable as they thought. So you edit yourself in real time. You explain too much. You soften. You hold back. You give the room the version of you least likely to be rejected. It is also the version least likely to be remembered.

What It's Actually Costing You

One missed moment will not shape your life. A pattern of them will.

The Insight

The moment you manage how you are seen, you stop seeing the person in front of you.

That's what most confidence training misses. Communication isn't a performance you deliver at someone, it's contact between you and another person, and the moment your attention turns inward to check how you look, that contact weakens. Presence isn't volume or polish, it's your ability to stay here while being watched. Confidence isn't the absence of fear, it's trusting yourself enough to act while the fear is still in the room. People trust what feels whole.

Why CJLT

Hi, I'm Charles.

Years ago, I froze in an audition. I was so busy guessing what they wanted that I never showed them what I had. I've since seen the same thing happen on stages, sets, sales floors and in boardrooms: smart, capable people abandoning themselves the moment being themselves matters most. I built CJLT to help you stay. The camera taught me the lesson this whole company is built on: people can feel when you've left the room.

Transformation

You do not become someone else. You stop leaving yourself behind.

Before
  • You read the room so closely you forget to be in it.
  • You prepare until instinct has nowhere left to move.
  • You try to sound confident instead of saying something clearly.
  • You leave wondering why the real you never quite appeared.
After
  • You stay with the person, the purpose and the moment.
  • You prepare properly, then remain free enough to respond.
  • You say what you mean without making anyone smaller.
  • You leave knowing the room met you, not the performance.

Most of us learned to shrink.

To round off the edges. Lower the voice. Give the room the version of ourselves we thought it wanted, and quietly carry the cost of holding that version up.

I don't believe we were built for that.

I believe you were built to take up your full space. To say the true thing, even when it's the hard thing. To lead when no one else will. To connect with the person in front of you like they're a person, not an obstacle.

That's the whole of it. Presence. Communication. Leadership. Not performed. Lived.

You. Unperformed.

About Charles Jazz Terrier

Fifteen-plus years. Every side of the table.

Charles Jazz Terrier is a speaker, strategist, and performance specialist with over fifteen years spent everywhere presence and communication actually get tested: on screen, on stage, behind a sales counter, and across the boardroom table. Alongside it, years of formal study in behavioural science, psychology, and criminology. He's lived the highs and the brutal lows. He's booked dream roles and bombed auditions he should have nailed. He's closed sales on instinct and lost them on nerves. He's been in the room, on the floor, and back up again.

What he noticed, walking into boardrooms, onto stages, into coaching sessions, is the same thing every time: people have left themselves at the door. Not their competence. Their humanity. The laugh, the instinct, the real opinion, the warmth. The very things that make communication land and leadership work.

The work at CJLT.co is about bringing that back. Not by performing better, by performing less. By stripping away the should and finding what's actually there. You don't build it. You stop hiding it.

"You're already enough. The work is just helping you believe it."

Founder of Fantome, the creative production company behind bold screen content. His clients don't just communicate better. They lead differently. They walk into rooms they used to avoid.

Where the work comes from

Fifteen-plus years in the room. Not borrowed from a book.

Most communication coaches learned their craft from other communication coaches. Mine came from over fifteen years standing in every kind of room there is: on set, behind a sales counter, on a retail floor, and in boardrooms with some of the biggest companies in the world.

Alongside that, years of formal study. Acting technique, properly trained, not picked up. Behavioural science, psychology and criminology, understanding why people actually do what they do under pressure. None of it theoretical. All of it tested on real people, in real rooms, with real stakes.

That's the work. Not technique laid on top. The thing underneath, that makes a person land in a room, whether it's a scene, a sale, or a boardroom. I've watched it work on the best performers alive, on executives who'd convinced themselves they weren't allowed to have it, and on a retail floor with someone who just needed thirty seconds to decide to trust me. It's the same skill wherever it shows up. I've just tested it in more rooms than most people in this field ever will.

What we actually build

Presence. Communication. Leadership.

01

Communication

Say the true thing. Say it cleanly, clearly, and without making anyone smaller to do it. Communication was never about words. It's meaning, carried on intention, from your core, through your eyes, into another person. Storytelling is how it travels: everything that makes you you, poured into what you say, so it doesn't just land on someone. It lodges in them.

02

Presence

Quiet, not loud. Presence isn't bravado and it isn't volume. It's inner confidence that has nothing to prove. It can sit across from someone and say "you see it that way, I see it differently," and hold both without flinching. It stops asking permission to exist. It took me years to carry that without apologising for it. I can teach you the road.

03

Leadership

Real leaders don't chase the spotlight. They step into it when no one else will. They don't seek power. They understand its weight and pick up the baton anyway. Not from bravado, and not from a borrowed confidence. From belief, and from the plain fact that someone has to, and they can see it's them.

Align all three, and you become undeniable.

What I Do

The work.

This isn't about learning to communicate better. It's about understanding why you're not already. Three areas. One thing underneath all of them.

01
Communication Coaching

Say What You Mean.

Better words and smoother delivery are the last things most people need. If you're not present with the person in front of you, technique won't fix it. This work starts further back.

  • Executive communication & presence
  • Public speaking & keynote coaching
  • Storytelling for impact
  • Voice, tone & delivery mastery
  • Media & interview training

02
Leadership Training

Lead with Presence.

People don't follow authority. They follow someone who's actually in the room with them. This work is for leaders who want to stop managing their image and start leading.

  • Leadership identity & style
  • Team dynamics & psychological safety
  • High-stakes decision communication
  • Purpose-driven leadership frameworks
  • Executive coaching & mentorship

03
Performance Coaching

Perform with Purpose.

Acting is play. That's not a soft idea. When it stops feeling that way and starts feeling frightening, something has gone wrong. This work takes you back to what it felt like before you started overthinking it.

  • On-camera & screen performance
  • Character development & embodiment
  • Audition & presentation technique
  • Creative confidence & voice
  • Brand & personal narrative

Where the work happens.

How It Works

The Path to Real Change

No templates. No one-size-fits-all programs. Just an honest conversation about where you are, where you want to be, and what's actually in the way.

01

Discovery

It starts with a real conversation. Who you are, where you are, what's holding you back. No assumptions, no formulas. Just clarity about what this work actually needs to be.

02

Strategy

Together we build a plan built around your context, your pace, your goals. Every engagement is designed from scratch. There's no such thing as a standard person.

03

Transformation

This is where the work happens. Honest, sometimes confronting, always specific to you. Not a course. Not a program. A real engagement with what's actually in the way.

04

Integration

The shift has to hold. With ongoing accountability and support, you carry the transformation into every room, every conversation, every moment that matters.

What Clients Say

Hear from the people
who've done the work.

"What surprised me most was how little time we spent talking about presentations. Most of our work was around how I communicate day to day, with my team, my peers and clients. The presentations improved because everything else improved first."

JO
James O'Connor Regional Sales Director

"This wasn't about becoming more polished. It was about becoming more honest. Ironically, that's what made me a much stronger communicator."

DR
David Reynolds Chief Executive Officer

"I stopped trying to sound like I had all the answers. Ironically, people started listening to me more."

MS
Matthew Sullivan Chief Financial Officer

"I've had more positive feedback from colleagues in the last three months than I had in the previous three years. They keep saying the same thing, that I seem more present. I don't think I realised how distracted I'd become until we worked together."

LM
Lauren Matthews Senior HR Business Partner

"It's rare to finish a coaching program and feel like you've changed something fundamental rather than simply learned a new skill. That's how I'd describe working with Charles."

TW
Tom Whitaker Managing Director

"I booked one session thinking I'd get a few presentation tips. We ended up working together for months because every conversation uncovered something genuinely useful."

JT
Jessica Turner Executive Producer

"I've never enjoyed public speaking, and I'd accepted that I probably never would. Charles didn't try to turn me into someone who loves being on stage. He just helped me stop getting in my own way. That's made a bigger difference than I expected."

SM
Sarah Mitchell Head of People & Culture

"I've become a better communicator at work, but the unexpected part is that I'm probably a better communicator at home as well."

SW
Sophie Wallace Senior Project Director

"Charles never gave me a script. He helped me trust my own voice. That's a very different thing."

Questions people actually ask

Before you get in touch.

No. Therapy looks backward to heal. This looks forward to perform. We work on what you do in the room, under pressure, when it counts. If something deeper is in the way, I'll tell you honestly and point you to the right person.

No. I've spent over fifteen years in real rooms: on set in front of and behind the camera, on stage, on a sales floor, and inside some of the biggest companies in the world. Alongside that, I've properly studied behavioural science, psychology, criminology and acting technique, not picked them up casually. The work is specific, practical, and built around you.

Completely. The corporate world and the creative world are the same thing wearing different name tags. Whether you're an actor, a speaker, a CEO, or a manager, you have to communicate so people believe you, and you have to lead people rather than boss them. The underlying skill is identical.

Both. One-to-one sessions run in person or online. Group workshops and team intensives are usually in person but can run online. Speaking engagements are in person. Every engagement is built around your context.

It depends on what you're carrying and what you want to work on. Some people come for one specific moment: an audition, a keynote, a board presentation. Others work with me over time to change how they operate as a whole. It runs from single sessions through to dedicated programs, group programs, and team intensives.

Engagements vary too much for an honest price list. Get in touch with a sense of what you're facing, personal or professional, and I'll give you a full breakdown. That's part of why I offer the honest 20 minutes: not just to see if we're a fit, but to understand what you actually need.

Book an honest 20 minutes. If I'm not the right person for you, I'll say so. I'd rather be straight with you than waste your time or mine.

The life you want begins the moment you speak up.

You already know
you're capable of more.

Most people spend years waiting to feel ready.
The work starts with one honest conversation.

Charles Jazz Terrier
A note from me

For over fifteen years I watched brilliant people freeze. On sets, behind sales counters, in classrooms, in boardrooms. The camera would roll, or the stakes would rise, and something in them would clamp shut. Not for lack of talent. Because somewhere along the way they'd learned they weren't enough as they were, and started performing the version of themselves they thought the room demanded. The effort of holding that version up was costing them the exact thing that made them worth watching.

I know that freeze because I lived it. I looked confident and warm for years while feeling shy, insecure, and lost, with no idea how to ask for help or speak up. It took a long time, a lot of rejection, and a lot of mistakes to put the performance down.

Here's what I know now. The room was never asking you to be polished. It was asking you to be you. My work is helping you take off the mask you've been carrying and live as the person who was underneath it the whole time. It's simpler than what you've been doing. It's also harder. And it's permanent, because it doesn't change what you do. It changes who you are while you do it.

If any of this landed, I'd love to talk.

Charles
